The computers in public areas of the library are freely available to all users. There are at least a few computers located on floors 1-5 of Newman Library, most within sight of the main elevators. Virginia Tech patrons who log in with PID/password have access to a large collection of software. Guests without PIDs have access to Open Office and internet browsers.
Printing from any library computer is networked to printer/copiers located behind the main elevators on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th floors. Payment is made through the Hokie Passport account (you can add funds to this account using the cash to card machine in front of the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor).
A computer lab, not associated with the library, is located in the Torgersen Hall Bridge. The Bridge is 24 hours during the regular semester. This facility is unstaffed so there is no one on site to answer questions about the software on these computers. An Information Kiosk is set up at the area in the center of the Bridge for general information about services.
